Grado Labs,one of the oldest family owned companies with a 60 year history of being leaders in design and manufacture of  audio products  for the consumer and recording industries.That's a big heritage,founded by Joseph Grado in 1953.Grado Labs has always maintained its sole factory in Brooklyn,New York.

John Grado began sweeping floors for his uncle Joe when he was twelve years old went on through his training and education of his uncle to become President and owner of Grado Laborotories.His sons,Johnathan and Matthew are an  integral in the future of the business and the future of continuing to create great audio products.

Grado are famous for their headphones and their phono cartridges and the passion of handmaking these special contributions to achieving great sound and offering exceptional value to the consumer.In the beginning Grado Labs produced speakers,turntables and highly acclaimed wooden tonearms.In 1963 all Grado's resources were concentrated on creating the world's finest phono cartridges.In 1984 Joseph Grado commenced the development of what was to become the first truly high-end dynamic headphone.Joseph extended headphone performance to levels previously only attained by only the very best full-range speaker systems in areas of dynamics,pitch control,harmonic accuracy and bass quality.

In 1990 John Grado released the first range of Grado headphones.From Grado's first headphone entry to 2014, John has created over 60 headphones.The Prestige Series of headphones went on to win more awards than any other headphone line in the world.It's kinda better than sweeping floors!John then set out to redesign Grado's line of phono cartridges.John took the knowledge gained while designing the wooden reference headphones and applied this in cartridge designs.Grado's system of damping has virtually eliminated resonant distortions,bringing analogue to a new level of performance.The new cartridge line was honoured with a Golden Note Award for analogue design.Grado also revised the entry level cartridges with the Prestige Series which has been touted as the best value phono cartridges in the world.

All in all,Grado,a family company that still designs and manufactures in Brooklyn,New York seems to put a love of creating great audio products first and foremost and reward the music listener with great value for money and that is a great concept and delivery of something that we all deserve.....having listened to their SR60e that sell for $129......I was gobsmacked by their sound and balanced detail....they truly sound great....and an audition of the Blue cartridge provided a surprising experience.
