The Elac Uni-Fi UB5s are a three way speaker that looks like a two way speaker due to the use of a concentric midrange/tweeter configuration.The world famous speaker designer Andrew Jones who designed the highly acoladed Elac Debut B5 wanted to take the B5 to an entirely new level with the UB5.Jones has been a long term advocate of concentric speaker drivers (look no further than his work at KEF and Pioneer/TAD,for examples).

The UB5 follows the principles set by Jones with the B5 of achieving a loudspeaker that sets new standards of sound quality for its price point.The UB5 is a stand mounted compact with bass reflex design that uses a rear firing dual flared port.The concentric design means that this speaker is one of the smallest 3 ways ever made.Also specially designed for the UB5 is the 5" aluminium woofer.Being a three way design allowed Jones the freedom of using a material that could be optimised for bass reproduction.An extra brace has been added to the cabinet to enhance stiffness.

In their review of the UB5s What HiFi magazine said....."there's a lot to be said for an aesthetically pleasing pair of speakers that are open sounding,fast and agile...."They certainly impress upon an audition and again prove that Andrew Jones designs are amazing value for money.
