The ProJect Classic....Celebrating 25 Years!

Exciting news is that ProJect, the famous Austrian turntable designer and manufacturer, has announced that they are celebrating their 25th Anniversary with the release of the ProJect Classic turntable.Strikingly similar to the Linn Sondek design, the smart wooden frame contains specially designed sorbothane discs, while the tonearm tube is made of carbon covered aluminium. Both horizontal and vertical bearings have also been given a cosmetic upgrade on the standard ProJect arm.

The sturdy aluminium platter features a new dampening material embedded around the inner circumference to help with balance and overall mass of the platter. To quote Heinz Lichtenneger (founder of ProJect)......"In my first year as a hifi dealerI sold 50 Thorens turntables in a town of 2,000 people.I made everyone into a hifi believer.

The ProJect Classic is a 2 plinth design with a traditional method of a spring loaded sub-chassis.There is also a dual platter layout to reduce resonance transference. The main platter of the Classic is machined from an aluminium alloy which is lined underneath with TPE damping.

The Classic also boasts a new tonearm exclusively designed for the Anniversary Edition. The Classic tonearm also boasts a new bearing assembly with precision machined, ultra low friction zircon bearings. The new nickel finished counterweight is also TPE damped, reducing the amplitude of the tonearm by 50%.This is truly a special release to celebrate 25 years of bringing the turntable back!News of the release in Australia is scant but hopefully later in 2016.
