Abbey Road Studios - An Iconic Place
One of the most special places that contributed to the music of the 20th century and now the 21st century continues to shine it's light on great artists and great recordings.Amazingly,Abbey Road has been around for 85 years. The EMI studios began to make a name for itself in the world of classical music and opera, hosting artists like Fred Astaire,Judy Garland and Glenn Miller. But it wasn't until 1962 when the Fab four stepped into the building that the building's legacy would take shape.
Abbey Road consists of 3 studios with a number of mixing, mastering and copying rooms. With the capability to hold a 100 piece symphony,Studio One is the largest studio.Studio Two is where The Beatles recorded most of their material. It's funny that Studio Two emphasises the warm midrange and short reverb. The recording equipment at Abbey Road also helped shape the sound of Abbey Road.EMI custom built much of the equipment including the majority of consoles and tape machines.
Another huge influence on the Abbey Road sound was the experimentation and techniques used there including the very important discovery of Artificial Double Tracking (ADT) .Whatever the case, there is no argument that Abbey Road Studios was and still is an iconic place of special music recording....we truly hope it continues to have a rich history.... And you need to see The Beatles .....8 Days A week!
