Precision Engineered for the Linn Sondek LP12 Turntable

The Linn Solid Base is a precision-engineered aluminium baseboard designed to provide a rigid and stable foundation for the Linn Sondek LP12 turntable. Supplied as standard on the Linn Majik LP12, the Solid Base is designed for systems where the turntable support already provides effective vibration isolation, allowing the LP12’s suspension system to perform from a firm and controlled platform.

Unlike the Linn Trampolin Baseboard, which incorporates suspended isolation feet, the Solid Base focuses on maximum rigidity and direct coupling between the LP12 plinth and the supporting surface. This approach helps maintain mechanical stability, ensuring the platter, bearing, tonearm and cartridge operate from a consistent foundation.

Manufactured from high-quality aluminium and fixed directly to the wooden LP12 plinth, the Solid Base improves upon earlier non-aluminium baseboards by offering increased stiffness and improved resonance control. It is an ideal choice for new LP12 builds or as an upgrade for existing Sondek LP12 turntables.

Design & Engineering

The Linn Sondek LP12 is renowned for its modular design, allowing owners to upgrade individual components as their system develops. The Solid Base is an important part of this upgrade path, replacing older baseboards with a stronger and more rigid aluminium construction.

By providing a secure connection between the turntable and its supporting surface, the Solid Base helps minimise unwanted movement and energy loss. This allows the LP12’s precision suspension system to work more effectively, preserving the timing, rhythm and musical engagement that Linn turntables are known for.

The rigid design works particularly well when the LP12 is placed on a dedicated equipment rack, wall shelf or other support that already provides effective isolation from external vibrations.

Performance Benefits

Installing the Linn Solid Base can provide a number of sonic improvements, including:

  • Improved mechanical stability

  • Greater control and precision during playback

  • Enhanced clarity and detail retrieval

  • Improved bass definition and timing

  • A more focused and engaging musical presentation

By creating a stronger foundation for the turntable, the Solid Base allows the cartridge and tonearm to extract more information from the record groove, helping listeners experience greater realism and musical flow.

Compatibility

The Linn Solid Base is compatible with:

  • Linn Sondek LP12 turntables

  • New LP12 builds

  • Existing LP12 models requiring an upgrade from older non-aluminium baseboards

It is supplied as standard with the Linn Majik LP12 turntable and forms part of Linn’s ongoing commitment to providing upgradeable, long-term performance improvements for LP12 owners.

Why We Like to Recommend the Linn Solid Base

The Linn Solid Base is an excellent upgrade for LP12 owners who already have a quality turntable support system and want to maximise the mechanical performance of their deck. Its rigid aluminium construction provides a clean, stable platform that allows the LP12’s precision engineering to perform at its best.

For systems where isolation is already provided by a dedicated rack or wall shelf, the Solid Base offers an effective way to improve stability, control and musical accuracy. It is a simple yet meaningful upgrade that enhances the LP12 experience while maintaining Linn’s philosophy of modular, long-term system development.
